Writer, journalist, entrepreneur. Born January 27, 1974, in Indianapolis, Ind. The eldest daughter of a cash register salesmen and an elementary school teacher, Mediocre Perfectionist spent her early years tormenting the students and faculty at the local Catholic school. Her zenith occurred in 4th grade when she was awarded the “Most Improved Attitude” award despite a near disqualification due to an unfortunate “I Hate You” valentine incident earlier in the year. She continued at public High School where she was known as a one season wonder… attempting every sport and extra curricular activity but sticking it out for only one season.

Mediocre Perfectionist attended University, where she first truly discovered boys. An unrequited love affair with a male-gymnast of undetermined sexuality, among other growing pains, led her to take a brief hiatus from university life. Two years later, she resumed studies while working full time as a nanny. It was during this period that the writing bug bit, and she’s been afflicted ever since.

In May 1998, Mediocre Perfectionist joined the staff of the area’s business journal as an intern. Her endearing personality and emerging writing style landed her a full-time gig as a reporter and events coordinator. But the financial strain of journalism eventually proved insurmountable. She switched to the “dark side” and took a PR/communications position with thef und-raising arm for a children’s hospital. Frustration with the non-profit scene convinced her to make the leap and follow her dream into entrepreneurialism. Today, Mediocre Perfectionist is president and CEO of a small boutique writing, communications planning and consulting firm.

She currently lives in her small cottage style house in Broad Ripple, Ind., with her anti-retriever, Truman and her 2-year-old son, the Squirrel Monkey.
